Right And Wrong

Michael Lind has a fantastic article over at Salon discussing how the American Right's propaganda machine has created a conservative movement that is now almost totally divorced from reality. A must read.

  1. I've just been catching up on your posts and links from 'Accordion families' onwards.

Good stuff as always, especially Michael Hudson's piece on population control.

In the Polish press I recently came across a young Czech economist named Tomas Sedlacek. I've no idea where he stands on the Neo-liberal to Communist spectrum but his interview was very thought-provoking and he has some great metaphors. If you haven't heard of him I recommend you look for his work in English.

PS: My own blog is coming out of retirement nearly 2 years after the last post. If you want to read what some Polish guys think about the challenges facing civil society in an age of atomised individualism, or Hegel's influence on American politics then you only have to wait to Sunday...

  2. Very interesting debunking of the unfunded liabilities argument. I've often wondered how they come up with these figures saying "56 trillion of unfunded liabilities" and the like. I suppose it goes without saying they will not get the bill all at once!

  3. Czarny Kot,

Thank you for the kind words. Thank you for the recommendation. I will look up Mr. Sedlacek's work. I look forward to the return of your blog!

    Alternative Investments,

Thank you for the comment. I honestly think a lot of these right-wing talking points are just completely made up or they are devised in more clever ways by right-wing think tanks such as the Heritage Foundation, where people are paid to produce this sort of propaganda.
